The Mini Kilt
The USA Kilts "Mini Kilt" is Kelly’s creation. She wanted to make a modern fashionable tartan kilt for
women, while keeping some of the aspects of a traditional kilt.
Mini kilts can be made from select tartans in Poly Viscose or from a much broader selection in wool. The
mini kilts are worn lower on the hips and have slightly wider pleats (approximately 1.25" wide). They are
shorter than a man’s kilt with an average length of 16 inches from the hip. They close with Velcro on the inside
left hip and 2 straps and buckles on the outside right hip.
The Poly Viscose tartan mini kilts are machine washable and cost $90 to $100. The available Poly Viscose tartans
can be seen on our Semi Traditional kilt page (gallery of tartans on right hand side of the Semi Traditional page). The
wool version of the mini kilt is "dry clean only" and will cost $150 to $170. We can make the wool mini kilts from
several hundred tartans including: Scottish clans, District tartans, Irish county tartans, Irish County CREST tartans
and Welsh tartans.
