The Premier Kilt

We took our years of experience in making our Casual and Semi Traditional kilts and directed the energy into moving the company forward. We'd like to proudly introduce our "Premier Kilt" line.

Do you have my name / county tartan?
We have access to several hundred names of Scottish origin. We also have access to a select few Irish names (very few have their own tartan) and all of the Irish county tartans and national tartan. Special weaving of less common tartans may also be available (i.e. US State tartans, College tartans, Military tartans, etc).

How are they constructed?
These kilts are made of the finest worsted wool woven in the UK. These kilts are part machine sewn, part hand sewn. The pleats are lined up to an exacting standard so that the lines running horizontally across the back of the kilt are continuous. They are sewn down 8 inches from the waistband and tapered to your measurements to allow for a proper fit.

The front apron is fringed on the right side while the bottom edge of the kilt has a finished edge. The last pleat on the right hip is angled and reversed to allow better movement of the front apron and to maintain the integrity of the other pleats. This kilt has two 4 inch wide belt loops on the back to accommodate a traditional kilt belt. It comes with a 3 buckle / strap closure system (2 on the right hip, 1 on the left hip), with each leather strap measuring 1.5 inches wide. The interior of each kilt is lined with a heavy cotton lining and canvas to maintain rigidity of the upper portion of the kilt.

How much material do you use?
This is a question we get often. Another way it's asked... "Is this an 8 yard kilt"? We can't answer that until we get your measurements and tartan choice. The amount of material that is put into one of our Premier Kilts varies based on 3 things... the size of the sett (how big the pattern is), the size of the individual (the bigger the person, the more material is needed) and the width of the pleats. Some skinnier people may end up using 7 yards of material, while a larger individual may use 9 or 10 (or MORE) yards of material. Once you give us your tartan choice and your measurements, I can "do the math" and tell you how many yards your kilt will be, but not before that.

How long will it take to get the kilt?
Good question. We do not keep wool in stock as there are simply too many tartans and we have too little room! If for some reason there is a long delay in getting the material (if the mills are out of stock and have to weave your material), then the delay may be longer than normal. Typically, this is not the case and we have the kilt out the door and on it's way to you in 6 to 8 weeks.

How much will a USA Kilts Premier Kilt cost me?
Each kilt is quoted on an individual basis. The overall cost of the kilt will be calculated by the tartan chosen (some cost more than others) and the size of the individual (larger kilts take more material and more time). The overall cost for the finished kilt will generally be between $500 and $600.
