Return & Exchange Policy
While we VERY rarely have problems with products being returned, we figured that it was time to put our policy in writing so that everything is laid out in simple terms in black and white.
Items offered for sale on our site fall into 2 categories… PREMADE (i.e. Off the Rack kilts, T shirts, Sporrans, Kilt Hose, etc.) and CUSTOM (any kilt other than an “Off the Rack”, custom made jackets, gold jewelry, clan crest items, etc.).
PREMADE Products: If you bought a PREMADE item, they are returnable within 30 days of the original postage date, in “resellable” condition. What is “resellable” condition, you ask? The item can’t be washed, dirty, worn, ripped, have spots on it, have the tag off or anything else that would prevent us from selling it to someone. Bottom line… if you aren’t sure that you want to keep something you bought, try it on at home for 5 or 10 minutes before making a decision. If you buy an “off the rack” kilt, please wear an undergarment the first time you try it on, so if it’s too big or too small, you can send it back clean (health code reasons). If you spend a night at the pub in a t-shirt and try to send it back, we won’t credit you. If you send something back that we deem is in re-sellable condition within the 30 day period, you can exchange it or get your money back. Please note, that shipping charges for items returned are NOT refundable. Also, if you'd like to exchange an item, there will be another small shipping charge to re-ship an item to you.
The only exception to this rule is Kilt Hose… once opened, they can not be returned for sanitary (and health code) reasons.
If you need to send something back, please call us at the shop (610.935.3444) or email us (Rocky@USAKilts.com) prior to shipping the item back to discuss your options. Please, do NOT ship an item back to us without contacting us first. If you do, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
CUSTOM Made Products: There’s a reason that we stress PROPER MEASURING on the site and in the measuring instructions… There are NO returns on custom made products. If you receive a kilt and it doesn’t fit, there are two possibilities.
1. We did not make the kilt to the measurements you sent us. If THIS is the case, we will replace the kilt or adjust it to the original measurements given at OUR cost.
2. If the kilt was made to the measurements given but the measurements themselves were incorrect, then there will be a charge to adjust the kilt to the proper size and for return shipping costs. If the measurements were FAR off, the kilt may need to be re-ordered.
In either scenario, once the kilt is returned to our shop, we will re-measure it and check those measurements against our order on file.
Bottom line… If we made the mistake, we’ll fess up and fix it ASAP. If you made the mistake, we’ll charge you a modest fee to adjust the size if it’s possible. Either way, there is no returning a custom made kilt.
DIRTY CLOTHES CLAUSE: If you send us an item to be re-sized and it needs to be cleaned, there WILL be a $25 charge to clean it... that includes animal hair, stains or anything we deem "needs to be cleaned". If in doubt, Wash it / Dry Clean it BEFORE you send it to us.
