Get to know your kiltmakers:  12 'fun facts' about Rocky and Kelly

1.  Kelly started her own clothing company in 2007:  Frogg

2.  Rocky snowboards in the winter months.  He rides a Gnu Altered Genetics 158.

3.  Kelly is a history Buff.  Although we're not 100% sure what constitutes a "buff", we're pretty sure she's one.

4.  Even though Rocky is 66% German, he still refuses to wear Lederhosen.

5.  We own two parrots:  George (a Blue and Gold MacCaw) and Bonnie (a Senegal).  If you stop into the shop, you may get a chance to meet them (if we brought them with us that day).

6.  Kelly is NOT a real blonde.  She's a redhead.  It explains the temper...

7.  Rocky is a pretty avid pool player.  He gets to the pool hall at least once a week and his favorite game is straight pool.  He uses an 18 oz Meucci cue stick.

8.  Kelly cards her own wool fiber (on a drum carder), spins her own wool (on a Kromski Spinning wheel), dyes the wool and knits her own sweaters and hats and whatnot.  Aside from raising and sheering the sheep / alpaca / buffalo / whatever hairy beast she's using to knit, she does every step of the process, soup to nuts.  No, she WON'T knit you a pair of hose (believe me, Rocky has tried to get her to knit him a pair of hose for years now).

9.  Rocky wears a kilt EVERY DAY.  The neighbors think he's a bit nuts, but we don't think it's because of the kilt.

10.  Kelly and Rocky's favorite "local" vacation spot is Ocean City, New Jersey!  Mac & Mancos Pizza, Shrivers Salt Water Taffy, the Surf Mall, Johnsons Popcorn, the Asbury Avenue shopping district, the beach the boardwalk and the salty air... what else do you need?  We both grew up in Pennsylvania and loved to vacation with our families "down the shore".  We get back to the OCNJ beach at LEAST once each summer.  If you ever stay in Ocean City, visit Coastal Realty (www.coastalrealty.net) to rent your house and ask for Don or Sue Doll (Rocky's aunt and uncle).

11.  The models we use on our site are our friends and customers (and ourselves).  We don't hire a modeling agency to get quality photos... we prefer to use real customers!  Thank you to Jimmy Jablonski (dapper country gentleman in the estate tweed kilt suit), Jim Diener (happy man with the red beard in many pictures), Rick Stewart (distinguished gentleman with the glasses... also Kelly's father),  Chris Corbin (handsome model for the Prince Charlie Jacket photo), Britney Conroy (our gorgeous female model), Erik (The Semi Traditional 'mountain top' pleat shot), Hamish Bicknell (jolly gentleman in the Saltire Kilt and Semi Trad kilt video), Ron Macdonald (gentleman in the Casual Kilt Video) and Rocky Roeger, (who is admitedly not handsome, but owns so many different kilts / outfits that we used him for many of the pics).  Also, we'd like to thank Dan McMichael (aka Mac) for taking the photos.

12.  We did our outdoor photo shoots in Valley Forge National Park in King of Prussia, PA.  It is a BEAUTIFUL park with gorgeous scenery.  It's great for a bike ride, a picnic lunch or a kilted photo shoot (but be sure to get a PERMIT for the photo shoot so you don't get scolded like we did).
