Product Description
This sporran is made in Scotland and offers great value for the money. It's not a stiff leather like most sporrans... it's supple, yet tough. The top flap features a pewter Celtic knotwork medallion and each one comes with a sporran chain. If you want a great entry level day sporran, this is a safe bet!

Price Value Quality It's a nice sporran and the leather is absolutely lovely - smells wonderful too! However, the magnetic closure isn't quite what I had hoped, it's a magnetic snap that still requires some attention in order to close. The Celtic Knot badge is not centered over the snap, and there's a rivet under the flap holding it in place. On mine, that rivet has sharp burrs/edges, and I cut myself when opening the flap by sliding my thumb under it, above the snap. Otherwise it's really nice and I do like it, but please be careful! Price Value Quality This is a nice leather sporran with a magnetic fastening which is great. I have canticle sporrans with a stud fastening at the back and one with a stud at the front, both irritate me. This is just so easy to use, and with no tassels quiet when you walk. Good job. Quality Price Value My other sporrans have tassels which alert my coworkers when I’m walking up. This one with no tassels allows me to wander up and corner my coworkers and bore them with long, pointless stories I make up on the spot.
The materials of this sporran are top notch, the leather is soft and I really like the magnetic closure. It’s large enough for my iPhone 13 pro max and wallet or a P365 with pocket holster but not a lot else. It’s one of the few that doesn’t have tassels which I like. I make enough noise just walking around with all kinds of joints popping, I don’t need the addition of thumping tassels. It goes with all my kilts too which is a bonus. (Posted on 8/6/2022) - Very nice magnetic clasp River

Quality Price Value I love this sporran for two reasons - its size and the magnetic clasp. It can actually fit my very tall phone, wallet, and keys. And, because of the magnetic closure, it is easier to close and open with one hand - useful when multitasking and needing something from my sporran such as while walking, in VR, etc. (Posted on 6/11/2022) - Intro Sporran Brian

Quality Price Value This sporran is of excellent quality. The leather is sturdy and the detail is just what I'd hoped for. After receiving a defective, mouldy, dried out item from a different company, I am thrilled to have gotten this better product through USA Kilts! (Posted on 11/29/2021) - Gem of a deal. Stephen

Price Value Quality Ive gotten used to but not a fan of the pleathry kinds of leather highland goods I've had over the years from various sources. This sporran breaks that trend.. For what you pay this is an awesome deal. The leather is nice and supple like a good biker vest type of leather. Great stitching and love the magnetic closure. The Celtic conch on the front is the right amount of bling and nicely attractive.. This is a good workhorse all purpose sporran. Aye !! (Posted on 7/11/2021) - Great quality, very pleased! Cricket

Fun Facts
The Sporran (Gaelic for "purse" or “Pouch”, pronounced /Spor' en/) is a pouch that performs the same function as pocket on the kilt. It's where the kilt wearer stores their keys, wallet, etc. The sporran hangs a few inches below the belt buckle (typically 3”), directly over the wearer's 'manhood'.
Made of leather or fur (or a mixture of the 2), the ornamentation of the sporran is determined by the formality of dress worn with it. The sporran is worn on a leather strap or chain, or in the case of larger men, from 'sporran hangers' which suspend it from the belt. It is essentially a survival of the common European medieval belt-pouch, superseded elsewhere as clothing came to have pockets, but continuing in the Scottish Highlands because of the lack of these accessories in traditional dress. There are several types of sporrans. Day Sporrans, Semi Dress Sporrans and Dress Sporran are the most common styles. There are also other styles, including Hunting Sporrans, Full Mask (aka Head On) Sporrans and Horsehair Sporrans.
Day sporrans are typically worn casually, during the day (before 6 PM). They are made from all leather and have a flap on the top. They are typically “D” shaped with the flat part at the top.
Dress Sporrans are typically worn formally (after 6 and for formal events like weddings). They are made from fur (Bovine is most common in the US) and have tassels on the front and have a metal cantle (semi circle of decorated metal at the top) on top. They are typically oval shaped and open in a “V” from the top.
Semi Dress sporrans are a cross between the Dress sporran and the Day sporran. They are half leather (the flap that closes the top) and half fur (the front 'face' of the sporran). Typically they have 3 (and sometimes 2) tassels on the front. They are typically “D” shaped with the flat part at the top. While some consider them to be “a jack of all trades, master of none”, they can be worn to both formal and casual events.
Hunting sporrans are a full leather sporran with no tassels on the front. They are preferred by many pipe bands for the lack of 'drumming' done while walking (no tassels = no drumming). While it's not clear where they acquired the name “Hunting Sporran”, it is generally accepted term that is meant to differentiate them from the typical “day sporran”.
Full Mask sporrans are the fur sporrans which have the head stuffed and mounted on the flap. They can be worn formally and casually, though due to the price, most are reserved for formal occasions.
Horse Hair sporrans are most typically worn by pipe bands with a 'military' look. While they have been worn by civilians in years past (1800's), current fashion is to relegate them to pipe bands and military personnel.
