    AAA+++  Mike
My sporran isn't exactly listed. It's a red fox hunting sporran in brown leather. An awesome sporran. Well made. Don't let the price scare you off. You get what you pay for. Mine is worth every penny. Well made. Might be my favorite sporran so far. It definitely a head Turner. Received more compliments in the last 3 days on this sporran than any other one that I have. Again guys, another awesome job well done. Highly recommended. (Posted on 7/15/2020)
    I love this sporran!  Rob
This Fur Hunting Sporran is now my favorite sporran. It looks great with smart tweed daywear, dressy pub-night attire and with a jumper. It is the highest quality sporran Ive got (out of 6.) (Posted on 3/31/2020)
    Dressy All-Purpose Sporran  zipper53
I wanted a sporran that was dressy enough for a St. Andrews Ball, but versatile enough to wear for semi-formal and non-formal occasions. Also, I did not want a sporran with tassels that would constantly drum against the sporran as I walked. This fit the bill perfectly. It is well made and designed and I love the look of the leafs that are attached to the bovine fur of the sporran. This is easily my favorite looking sporran. When considering this sporran please keep in mind that this is the same size and shape as a dress sporran so it will not hold as much stuff as a regular day sporran, but it is perfect for my needs.. Sporran purchased  Richard
I purchased this sporran on my visit to the store with my wife, while on vacation from Nevada. I've been looking at this sporran for sometime. It is a very nice sporran with good build quality I really like the cell phone pocket inside, that said I don't know if I'll ever use the snap in key fob. The first time I was able to wear it my wife commented that she really likes it and so do I.

    Stunning quality and workmanship  J.
Firmly in the “get what you pay for” category. This sporran is absolutely stunning and will pull together any nice kilt outfit. Looks killer with a sweater or waistcoat for dress daywear or non-formal evening wear. Quality of the leather and workmanship is superb. I hesitated for far too long. Should have bought this one much earlier. And hey, if a hunting is good enough for Prince Charlie it’s more than good enough for me. (Posted on 1/22/2019)

    Another great product  Mack
My third sporran from USAKilts. Each one seem to have higher and higher quality. (Posted on 7/25/2015)
    Well worth the price!!  MD
First word of advice: DO NOT let the price deter your choice of buying this or not! It is, without a doubt, the finest, most versatile and finest bit of craftsmanship I've owned. The versatility alone is worth the price! I went back and forth for many weeks trying to decide whether or not to drop the money. When I finally got it in the mail, I was at complete ease with my choice. This sporran truly defines the old saying "You get what you pay for". Buy this sporran!! (Posted on 12/20/2014)
    Fantastic and Versatile  Dan
I am quite partial to the hunting style of sporran. I think it looks better than any other semi-dress sporran, and it worked perfectly paired with the argyll jacket and vest for a banquet. It also looks great at the cigar lounge with a polo shirt. Short of an event with tuxedos, I don't see any place you couldn't wear this.

Good quality leather, business or credit card holder inside, and a decent amount of room.
The only thing to be mindful of is that the 'leaves' are stitched down at the tips rather than studded, so if something gets underneath and snags one of the leaves, a sudden jerk could undo the stitching.

This sporran is well worth the price, especially considering the versatility.

And, as always, the service is simply amazing.

  • Fun Facts

The Sporran (Gaelic for "purse" or “Pouch”, pronounced /Spor' en/) is a pouch that performs the same function as pocket on the kilt. It's where the kilt wearer stores their keys, wallet, etc. The sporran hangs a few inches below the belt buckle (typically 3”), directly over the wearer's 'manhood'.

Made of leather or fur (or a mixture of the 2), the ornamentation of the sporran is determined by the formality of dress worn with it. The sporran is worn on a leather strap or chain, or in the case of larger men, from 'sporran hangers' which suspend it from the belt. It is essentially a survival of the common European medieval belt-pouch, superseded elsewhere as clothing came to have pockets, but continuing in the Scottish Highlands because of the lack of these accessories in traditional dress.

There are several types of sporrans. Day Sporrans, Semi Dress Sporrans and Dress Sporran are the most common styles. There are also other styles, including Hunting Sporrans, Full Mask (aka Head On) Sporrans and Horsehair Sporrans.

Day sporrans are typically worn casually, during the day (before 6 PM). They are made from all leather and have a flap on the top. They are typically “D” shaped with the flat part at the top.

Dress sporrans are typically worn formally (after 6 and for formal events like weddings). They are made from fur (Bovine is most common in the US) and have tassels on the front and have a metal cantle (semi circle of decorated metal at the top) on top. They are typically oval shaped and open in a “V” from the top.

Semi Dress sporrans are a cross between the Dress sporran and the Day sporran. They are half leather (the flap that closes the top) and half fur (the front 'face' of the sporran). Typically they have 3 (and sometimes 2) tassels on the front. They are typically “D” shaped with the flat part at the top. While some consider them to be “a jack of all trades, master of none”, they can be worn to both formal and casual events.

Hunting sporrans are a full leather sporran with no tassels on the front. They are preferred by many pipe bands for the lack of 'drumming' done while walking (no tassels = no drumming). While it's not clear where they acquired the name “Hunting Sporran”, it is generally accepted term that is meant to differentiate them from the typical “day sporran”.

Full Mask sporrans are the fur sporrans which have the head stuffed and mounted on the flap. They can be worn formally and casually, though due to the price, most are reserved for formal occasions.

Horse Hair sporrans are most typically worn by pipe bands with a 'military' look. While they have been worn by civilians in years past (1800's), current fashion is to relegate them to pipe bands and military personnel.
