- Very nice shoes and fast delivery Phillip
Quality Price ValueMy first pair of ghillie brogues. These are very beautiful shoes and are well made. They were a little tight at first around the toe area even though they were my size but they are breaking in nicely. I wore them out to dinner with my wife and by the end of the evening I hardly knew they were there. The service at USA Kilts is excellent, I ordered them on Thursday and on Monday they were at my house. I will be ordering more from USA Kilts as time goes on (I'm a poor Scott) you can't beat the quality and service. (Posted on 10/14/2014)

- Perfect fit AJ Michigan
Quality Price ValueMy first own pair of Ghillie Brogues.
I had worn rentals before and they always were a tad tight so I ordered a size up. They fitted great with the thick hose, didn't break them in. Wore them 12hrs, danced in them and nothing rubbed.
You can't beat the quality for the price, love them.
Shipping was amazingly fast, received shipping tracking # same day.
Good job guys, will be ordering from you again! (Posted on 10/14/2014)
- Nice comfortable fit Jamo449
Quality Price ValueNice fit looks good reasonably priced. I personally have an issue with footwear that fits with comfort. I have Fred Flintstone feet large and wide. I ordered a pair of size 14US, I received them they looked great, now the part of shoes that make me hold my breath, putting them on. I slid one on and smiled feels good! Now the right foot the one that's a little bigger, slid it on and Bingo it fit just right! I began to breathe again, with a smile. (Posted on 10/14/2014)
- Fantastic Fit Price and Quality Steven
Quality Price ValueMy first pair of Ghillie brogues bought for a wedding. These are very beautiful, well made shoes. They fit perfectly and was really surprised to see the quality for the price. Plus, they are breaking in nicely very nice supple and soft. I've worn them out to dinner with my girl friend at the end of the evening I hardly knew they were there. The service at USA Kilts is excellent, I telephoned them first a spoke with a very lovely and helpful woman (sorry I can't remember her name as I write this) then ordered them on Thursday and on Monday they were at my house in Canada. I will be ordering much more from USA Kilts in the future. I'm so happy with the whole experience you can not beat the quality and service. (Posted on 10/14/2014)

As the highlands of Scotland have a plethora of rainy days and bogs and rivers to trek through, the highlanders living there needed footwear appropriate for the climate. Out of necessity was born the Ghillie Brogue.
The ghillie brogue started out as a shoe that would allow water to drain quickly. They have a pattern of holes (similar to ‘wing tips’) and do not have tongues. This is to give water a way to escape while they walked. They also have laces which wrap around the leg. This is so the wearer’s shoe won’t get stuck in the mud while walking.
Tying Ghillie Brogues - While there are a few different ways to tie them, this is the way we find the best:
1. Put on the shoes and pull the laces tight.
2. While pulling them taut and holding them near the ends, twist the laces around each other 4 times, clockwise.
3. Pull the laces straight out to each side (one in either direction) to make a small, 1” high ‘column’ of twists right above the top of the shoe.
4. Next pass the laces behind your leg in opposite directions so that they cross in the back, about 2” to 3” up from the top of the heel of the shoe (around your Achilles). Make half knot in back and tighten it.
5. Bring the laces around to the front, about 4” to 5” above the top of the shoe. Make a half knot and tie the shoes (make “bunny ears”). I highly recommend double knotting the shoes to keep them from coming undone.
If you're not going to remember how to do this later, we suggest printing out this page and keeping it in the box with your shoes until you can do it from memory.
