Casual Kilt

Details

Our Casual Kilt is for the "lazy guy" (after all, Rocky designed it) and for the person who wants a quality entry level kilt. It's for the highland athlete who doesn't want to look like "the guy in the skirt" around all those imported Scottish kilts.

This model kilt comes with tapered hips (to ensure a proper fit), 3 belt loops and a velcro closure system. Our material has nice, crisp pleats so that you don't have to iron the kilt as often and when you do, it's much easier! Each kilt is pleated by hand to a particular pattern (either to the Sett or to the Stripe), not machine 'random' pleated.

Our Casual Kilts are made from Poly Viscose material (65% / 35%), which is an 11 - 12 oz. machine washable fabric. The P.V. material we buy is woven in the U.K. and has a combination of Low Pill™ technology and a Teflon® finish applied. This means that you won't get those little "pills" that form on fabric over months of wear and that even if you spill something on your kilt, it's easily wiped off.

While there are no real rules about what tartans people are entitled to wear, if you are more comfortable wearing a universal tartan that was specifically designed for everyone, we’ve marked them with a ** beside the tartan names in the tartan gallery.  To see the tartans, please click on the "Tartans" tab above this text.

We would ask that you measure carefully for our kilts.  Since these are custom made to fit the measurements provided, you will need to be sure of the exact sizing. We will not refund in the case of mistakes in measuring.  Detailed measuring instructions can be found in the "Measuring Instructions" tab above this text.

Been wanting a kilt ever since a friend of mine invited me to a Rabbie Burns dinner. I am Scottish and my grandfather really was named Robert Burns. Will be wearing to this years dinner and to couple of events this summer. I debated which tartan, but finally chose the police tartan since I was in law enforcement. I am so pleased to be able wear this in honor of the fallen. (Posted on 1/8/12)

I am now the proud owner of three casual kilts by USAK. The oldest is about three years old and shows no sign of aging. Easy care, great fit, and wonderful "starter" kilt that looks good enough for formal events and breathes well in the Summer festival season. It is also wondering for garnering compliments. 4. It's a great choice. Review by Mike

If your not sure which one you want or just want to get a starter kilt or a chore kilt that looks authentic this is a great choice. It's tough enough to take abuse plus it's easy to care for. Simply wash in cold water and hang dry. It will take you from t-shirt mucking in a horse stall or the garden to sunday at church with a nice jacket. It's attached with velcro which makes for a high level of adjustability. Close to 4" total or 2" from your "size". With pants if you eat a big meal, tuck in an under shirt and dress shirt or wear a sweater outside your pants won't fit but with a kilt it's east to set it comfortably. The Velcro cloth is 2" wide and when properly adjusted won't come loose. The belt loops will take up to a 1.75" wide belt. (Posted on 11/28/11)

I ordered two casuals about a year and a half ago. Each gets worn at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. They both look new despite the frequency of use and the number of times they've been washed. All I do is wash them according to the instructions, hang them up, and let them air-dry. Compared to an acrylic kilt they're a breeze!

I couldn't be happier. Well, I'll be happier when I get a couple more and that premium model I've had my eye on for the past few years! (Posted on 11/12/11)

  6. Great for the price Review by Johnny S.

I looked around a long time for an affordable, American made, Casual kilt. After looking through dozens of websites all carrying the same cheap acrylic kilts (made in Pakistan), it's nice to see a company making a kilt of much better quality for about the same price, here in the US. AND it's custom made to my measurements!

I bought my first USAK Casual over a year ago and love it so much I bought a second. Wears like iron and takes all of my abuse and comes back for more. (Posted on 11/11/11)

I have wanted a kilt for quite a while but was put off by prices until found this site. Very affordable and they had the Maclean hunting plaid as one of the choices. My wife help measure me up, sent in the order late Saturday night and paid for expediting. I was expecting two weeks delivery but the next Friday night there it was. Fit and looks great. Great value, I am more than pleased. (Posted on 10/14/11)

I have worn my kilt at random ever since I got it back in 2005. I wore it in high school, to my cousins wedding, and after every successful deployment I have completed in the Air Force. (Posted on 10/11/11)

My first USA Casual kilt was to verify my measurements before ordering a custom weave wool kilt. They are such a great value, within a year I ordered 2 more. As an RVer, they are just the thing to wear when driving our motorhome and, with the velcro closure waist, are perfect for going to and from a campground shower. I wear them so much, I'm known as the "kilted camper". And my Stewart Royal Casual kilt, the college tartan, looked great in my college Homecoming Parade and pictured on the front page of the newspaper. (Posted on 9/23/11)

The USA Kilt Casual is a terrific starter kilt, or a knocking around kilt that looks good, but is easy to maintain. If you are new to kilt wearing, this is the kilt to start with. If you want a kilt for hiking or pubbing that is still a "real" kilt, here it is. (Posted on 9/21/11)

I wanted a kilt for just kicking around the house, doing yard work when its 90%+ outside, etc. With the casual, I can just throw it in the wash, hang it over the sofa to dry and its as good as new!

I bought this as a kilt to wear on stage with my band. I didn't want to worry about spilling beer on it, so I went with the casual. Works great! (Posted on 9/9/11)
