    Thomson was a border clan most numerous in the region stretching from the West Marche to Edinburgh. Clan history is thus influenced by close proximity with England.


    The Thompson Hunting tartan was designed for Lord Thomson of Fleet in 1958. The design was based on a sample in the Moy Hall collection which dates to the mid-19th century.
