  • Notes:

The threadcount for this hunting tartan comes from Jamie Scarlett's 'The Tartans of Clan Chattan' 2002 and is said to be at least 30 years old. It is alternately known as "MacAlasdair of Glenbarr".

MacGillivray was an important clan even before the Norsemen were driven out of the Outer Hebrides by King Somerled who was Lord of the Isles in the 12th century. It is a member of the Chattan Confederation. The last Steward of the Clan, Colonel George Brown MacGillivray of Thunder Bay. Ontario, died in 1994. Having no chief, the clan is therefore considered Armigerous.
