  • Notes:

This tartan is shared by Hunter, Galbraith, Mitchell and Russell. It appears in the Highland Society of London collection as Galbraith and in a mid-19th century list as Russell. It was also marketed in the 20th Century as Hunter. Around 1950, it acquired the name Mitchell when it was adopted by the U.S. Air Force Pipe Band and renamed in honor of General Billy Mitchell.

Mitchell is usually acknowledged as a sept of Clan Innes. Some sources indicate the name is also included with septs of other clans, such as the MacDonalds of Keppoch.
