Quality Price ValueI grew up in the cut and sew industry. Can tell you with confidence this is a very well made shirt. Quality cloth, quality seamsmanship. I really like it has a pocket, most shirts in this style don't and I want/need a pocket. (Posted on 12/9/2019)

- Great Shirt Storyteller
Price Value QualityI bought two of these shirts in Grey and Cream both in different sizes XL & XXL just in case the sizes were off. I am pleased to say they both fit well....the latter being looser. They feel great, look great and I love wearing them. (Posted on 6/28/2019)

- very comfortable, but... Lockard
Price Value QualityThis is a very nice shirt. The most comfortable shirt I own. Unfortunately, the thread on the right sleeve button unraveled almost immediately. I fixed it, but at this price point there's no excuse for loose threads... (Posted on 12/25/2018)

Quality Price Valuevery nice quality for short money (Posted on 12/15/2018)
- Neck was tight, ordered next larger size,, neck was still tight not made to button up, sadly. Warm shirt, great look,, but no way should it be 40 dollars. sawdust
Price Value QualityOf course over priced,,, but it is what it is,, bought two,, first one was a large, could not button neck button,, this should not be. Exchanged for extra large,, now, shoulders sag, barely can button top button, very tight. Very good looking shirt for that 19th century modern look, very warm, did not sink after wash in hot water. Neck needs to be cut larger to fit size,, I have a normal size neck. (Posted on 10/9/2018)

A Brief History of the Grandfather Shirt
The banded collar shirt first appeared in the Victorian age with the invention of detachable collars. It was practical and saved on washing. Naturally, many men simply left off the collar if they didn't need it. And this was especially true of working men such as the Highland ghillie or the Irish navvy. It was comfortable for long days in the fields or on the docks.
Though they were standard work-a-day shirts for many classes in many different countries, it was in Ireland that these shirts became a form of traditional dress, like the aran sweater (the “jumper”) or the flat cap. It was in Ireland that the name “Grandfather’s shirt” was coined and quickly shortened to granddad shirt or graddad shirt.
Our Grandad Shirt is Timeless Fashion
Traditional Irish grandfather shirts were, and still remain, practical yet sleek and dignified menswear. You can find old photos of everyone from Welsh coal miners to American cowboys wearing them (not to mention the occasional businessman relaxing after hours). And yet nothing about the Grandfather shirt feels out of place in the 21st century.
Irish Shirt Quality - Granddad Would Approve
A true Granddad shirt will be made of cotton or linen, or a blend of the two. Ours is made in Ireland of rich cotton with just a touch of linen. There’s just enough linen to add durability and that wonderful nubby texture, but not so much that the shirt will require ironing. It’s just about perfect and will only become more and more comfortable over the years. The front features the traditional placket with a dozen small decorative buttons. On the back you’ll find a reinforced yoke and gusset for ease of movement.
The Perfect Traditional Work Shirt for Your Kilt OR Jeans!
Cut long and roomy, this authentic Irish graddad shirt will easily fit in your kilt or even jeans without pulling out. We offer a variety of colors including a grey which tones perfectly with most weathered color palette tartans and pretty much any tartan as grey is a neutral color! Pair this shirt with your favorite kilt, day sporran and flat cap.
