This day-wear Sgian Dubh is made from real Stag horn (collected in Scotland) and is made in the UK. The blade is made from Damascus Steel and is a fully functional (very sharp) blade.
Please note: Due to the fact that these are real stag horn sgian dubhs, no 2 are exactly alike. The product you receive will not be the exact one pictured, but very similar to it.

- not bad, I liked it shanty piper
Price Value Qualitythought it was a little expensive, the edge wasn't as sharp as a sharpened knife should be but overall, its a nice product (Posted on 3/8/2016)
- The real deal Mike W
Price Value QualityGreat product. Looks outstanding with your kilt! I recommend you buy this item! (Posted on 2/18/2016)
- Nice Addition Paul
Price Value QualityThe handle seems upside down with the curved up/butt end in your palm. I cut/sanded/filed the sides of the butt end to keep it from poking my leg and catching on stuff when walking by. Otherwise I am thrilled with it. Oh and yes you will have to spend some time sharpening it properly. Since I often wear it people ask about it and want to see it. (Posted on 6/5/2015)
- Very nice but remember its not stainless Chris
Price Value QualityThis is my go to sgian for day events. I bought it specifically because it's a real knife and can take an edge - I'm something of a purist and believe a sign dubh should be a real blade and not just for looks. The damascus is very attractive - the only drawback is that since it IS damascus, it will rust from the dampness of wearing it in your hose all day. Takes a bit more care as a result. Also, while it did have something of an edge when I got it, it took some honing to give it a proper edge. (Posted on 1/14/2015)
- Best Sgian Dubh, Best Price IRISH
Price Value QualityI ordered one of these Damascus Steel Stag Horn Sgians for a formal family event and was VERY pleased with the high quality blade and handle. The traditional dappled blade is attractive in the rare occasion that it will be unsheathed, but the stag horn handle is a work of art. This is the accessory that completes your highland attire required for that special event. (Posted on 10/14/2014)

Quality Price ValueGreat looking horn but the blade is junk. Poor fit, no finish or polish at all, very rough grinder marks on the edge and near the tang and certainly not quality. If I cant return it I'll be junking the blade and trying to salvage the nice horn. NOT a usable knife.
The horn looks great in a sock but I would be embarrassed to show the blade to anyone. (Posted on 10/14/2014)
- Great looking knife Dzhonmc
Price Value QualityGreat looking blade and handle! Well worth the money you spend on it. I couldn't be happier! (Posted on 10/14/2014)

Wooden and Stag Horn sgian dubhs are used more for casual and ‘day wear’ type outfits. Dress sgian dubhs (usually black in color with or without a stone on the top) are typically reserved for formal functions.
If you choose to wear a sgian dubh, we highly recommend wearing flashes… The elastic band on the flashes helps to keep the sgain dubh “secure” in your hose top. Without the flashes, the sgain dubh may easily fall out (and get lost).
Also, think about where you're going before tucking your sgian dubh into your hose... Many buildings have security screenings and a Sgian Dubh may be confiscated as a weapon. When in doubt, leave it at home or check it in your luggage.
Sgian Dubh, literally translated, means “Black Knife”. It was originally concealed in a small pocket, usually sewn into the armpit area. When in the company of friends, it would be taken out and tucked into the top of the kilt hose as a sign of respect (i.e. not hiding a weapon).
Today, sgian dubhs are usually more decorative than utilitarian. They are worn by tucking about 2/3 of the (sheathed) knife into the top of the kilt hose. Which leg it is worn on is determined by the dominant hand of the wearer (right handed guys put it in their right leg’s hose).
We try to keep this sgian dubh in stock at all times. In the rare instance that it is out of stock when you place your order, we will let you know within 24 hours.
