The Grand National Curling Club (GNCC) tartan was produced in 2017 in commemoration of 150 years of curling in the United States. The GNCC was founded in 1867 and was the National Governing Body of curling in the United States until 1958. The GNCC is a Recognized Regional Association within the United States Curling Association. The tartan was inspired by the (Old/Red) Gordon tartan. Robert Gordon was elected the first patron of the GNCC from 1867–1884. Originally a Dumfries man, he became an influential figure in New York City as one of the incorporators of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, President of the Down Town Association, President of the St. Andrew’s Society, and a partner of the financial house of Maitland Phelps and Company. Colours: red for the Olympic Curling Trials known as the Roar of the Rocks; white for the bright ice; green for the Grand National organization; dark blue for excellence in competition and blue is intended to represent life- long curling friendships.
