  • Notes:

This beautiful tartan was registered by Mrs. Rosemary Nicolson Samios in 1992, an Australian of Skye decent, now living in Skye. It was selected through a worldwide competition won by Agnus MacLeod from Lewis. Agnus, a weaver to trade, produce the first commercial quantities in traditional kilt weight in 1993. The colors of the tartan depict those of the island, often called the "Misty Isle." Mrs. Samios controls the rights to the production of the "Isle of the Skye" district tartan through registration with the Patents Office, and therefore this tartan is considered "private" and can only be woven with her permission (which we have obtained.)

Please note that there ARE companies that produce kilts and other items in this tartan by "bootlegging" it. We do not.
